Description
Traditional Country/Western (C/W) dance differs significantly from the "modified" circular Ballroom style commonly taught at many chain dance studios across the US. Instead, "Traditional" C/W dancing embodies a straight-line progressive style adaptable to various music genres, including Country, Pop, Rock, Ballroom, and even EDM. This 5-week class offers the opportunity to learn the basics of six popular C/W couple dances performed across the US. These dances encompass the Single, Double, and Triple Rhythms of the Texas Two-Step, Three-Step, One-Step, and Country Waltz. The emphasis will be on proper traditional C/W dance styling, leading and following techniques, differentiating between dance and music, and developing dance move combinations. Beginning through intermediate level moves and twirls will be taught using the "Dance Move Building Block" method, facilitating the learning of subsequent patterns. Participants will also have the chance to create their own dance moves and combinations using the “Dance Move Paradigm” method. This class caters to beginners; no prior experience is necessary. Practice dance music and links to YouTube instructional videos will be provided for at-home practice. Videotaping the instructor reviewing and teaching new dances and moves is allowed. Registration requires pairs; upon registering, please add a quantity of 1 to your cart and provide your partner's name when prompted. Enrollment is limited to fifteen (15) couples
