Description

This online INDEPENDENT STUDY course will use a compliation of video lessons, an instructor to support and guide you, and access to a tool kit or pottery wheel (student must choose one area of focus).  Any ceramist may practice at thier own pace the following skills:

  • Foundation skills  (including basic proficiency in hand-building)
  • Using pinch, coil and slab methods
  • Basic proficiency in throwing; centering, lifting, and trimming

Twice during the course, students will be able to produce a variety of ceramic pieces and apply glazes to create finished products (Submission dates to be given at the first class). 


There will be a materials fee of $35 payable at the time of registration, to cover the cost of clay and glazes for up to ten pieces per student. 

Please register early. There are no discounts for this class. 

Additional Notes

Please call the office at 860-870-6060 to indicate a preference for the pottery wheel.  Wheels are very limited.  If you choose the wheel it will be delivered to your home on LOAN for the duration of the class.  

Please note there will be no class on Tuesday April 13th.
