Description

Photoshop is a widely recognized and arguably the best digital imaging program available today. Within Photoshop, there's another powerful tool called Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), originally designed for processing RAW images—a more robust format than JPG, ideal for serious digital editing. ACR has advantages over Photoshop for several reasons: it's easier to learn due to Photoshop's complexity, it offers a variety of editing tools, and it caters to the needs of both amateur and professional photographers, supporting multiple image formats. All images can benefit from digital editing. Basic adjustments like lightening dark areas, darkening light areas, improving colors, adding sharpness, and removing distractions enhance the overall quality of photos. Editing is as crucial as capturing pictures, transforming them into something unique. For instance, spending time photographing a model is complemented by interpreting and applying a personal style using ACR for extensive digital editing. Upon arrival, a comprehensive handout will be provided to simplify class understanding, allowing more focus on listening and participating rather than extensive note- taking. The current Photoshop version, including ACR, is available through Adobe's subscription at around $10 per month, which also includes Adobe Lightroom. Owning Photoshop is not mandatory for this course. A $5.00 material fee is due to the instructor on the first night of class. Please bring cash to cover this expense. Enrollment in this class is limited to fifteen (15) students.
